A Sunday at Osceola National Forest

My wife, Yvonne, and I decided to spend Sunday in Osceola National Forest. The sun was out and it looked like a
great day to find some herps sunning on the white dirt roads or maybe on the sunny side of a water hole. We found one
turtle that was faster than my camera and two DOR snakes. One was a very smashed Eastern Garter and freshly killed
Southern Black racer.

We started taking some of the 4 wheeler trails since these areas also allowed Jeep access. We found several
flipping opportunities only to find the following.

First off we found this nice large Florida Ivory Millipede, Chicobolus spinigerus.

The second find was this Hentz Striped Scorpion, Centruroides hentzi.

Then I found these Eastern Subterranean termites, Reticulitermes flavipes, getting reading to swarm when the
condition are more suitable.

A few days later I found this beautiful Pine Woods Tree frog, Hyla femoralis, while road cruising just south of ONF.

  Thanks for looking,
  Daniel
