Thamnophis sauritus sackeni
  • Average size:  20-28 inches; Record 40 inches.  Young are 7-9 inches at
    birth.
  • Range:  Throughout most of Florida.
  • Diet:  Frogs, toads, lizards, fish and salamanders.
  • Status:  Commonly found in pinelands, hardwood hammocks, cypress
    strands, prairies, marshes, streams, ponds, bogs, etc.
