Osceola National Forest - July 26th
We have received nearly 5 inches of rain this week, so Mike, Jake and I went for a cruise through Osceola NF
Saturday evening to see what we could find. By night fall the frogs were singing loud and clear.
We had hopes of finding a Glossy crayfish snake, mud snake or maybe a Red-bellied water snake. I've been told
that Red-bellied water snakes have been found in ONF. I'd still like to see one for myself.
Here' what we found:
Ringneck Snake, Diadophis punctatus
Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake, Sistrurus miliarius barbouri
Barking Treefrog, Hyla gratiosa
Peninsula Ribbon Snake, Thamnophis sauritus sackenni
The Hyla gratiosa was my favorite for the night.
Hope you enjoyed the photos,
Daniel
