Eastern and Southern Hognose Comparison

Back in January I found an Eastern Hognose (Heterodon platyrhinos) at the farm that probably hatched in 2007 and
took it in to take some photos. Mark Kenderdine, a friend of mine, knew I had a Southern Hognose
(Heterodon simus)
and suggested I take some photos of them side by side since they were both about equal size. I ask Mike to take a few
photos for me because I’ve been so busy between work and maintenance issues at the farm.

I’m sure many of you have seen photos of both hogs and maybe even several in the wild, however seeing them side
be side for comparison is still nice to see.

The simus is now a permanent resident here. The platyrhinos was released were it was found after taking many
photos of it.

Thanks for viewing,
Daniel
