  • Average size:  20-33 inches; Record 45.5 inches.  Young are 6.5-8
    inches at birth.
  • Range: Throughout most of Florida.
  • Diet: Toads and frogs
  • Status: Common
  • Spreads and flattens its head and neck and hisses loudly when
    approached. Will often play dead.
